An accomplished team leader within global, technically driven industries, Tim Morris offers extensive experience providing strategic solutions for automated drawing generation systems, product specific configuration of heavily assembled products, CAD consolidation/migration and multi-site PLM solutions enabling global collaboration.
Tim began his career with General Electric as an electrical designer. While at GE, Tim led an off-site engineering office responsible for 130 Low Voltage Substations for the Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant in Georgia and the engineering of an emergency substation for the 3 Mile Island nuclear incident. Tim also designed the master wire routings for multiple low voltage switchgear equipment lines. When his location received their first CAD systems, Tim was asked to setup and administer the Applicon system running on a DEC PDP-11 processor. During this time, Tim developed GE’s first configurator designed to programmatically generate front elevation layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams.
After 10 years at GE, Tim spent 15 years with Square D Company, now Schneider Electric, in various technical and managerial roles. Tim’s technical accomplishments involved developing schematic and wiring diagram standards for the low voltage motor control center equipment line and the setup and administration of Square D’s first CAD system, Medusa running on Prime computers. He later co-authored a highly customized automated wiring diagram system. While managing the application engineering team, Tim led the group of twenty-five engineers from being behind schedule on 600+ orders to being on schedule in a mere four months. During his time managing the engineering systems organization for North America, Tim championed the switch from CADDSV to Inventor Series, directed the conversion from Medusa to AutoCAD and led the development of Square D’s 2D and 3D CAD/CAM standardization. Tim also managed a development group of thirty programmers focused on engineering automation programs and a sales configurator system for Square D.
In 2001, Tim left Square D and went to work with Joy Mining Machinery as Director of Global Engineering Systems. During the six years at Joy, Tim led his team in the obsolescence of five CAD systems in four continents, implementing the Autodesk Inventor Series, including data migration and 2D/3D CAD standardization. Tim and his team implemented a multi-site PLM solution allowing global engineering collaboration and a global sales tool encompassing all five of Joy’s product lines.
As founder of his own Company, Engineering Systems Solutions LLC, Tim’s latest endeavor is to provide his expertise via consulting services, developing and guiding diverse virtual teams that deliver top performance in the engineering systems arena.
